Claregalway was host to tonight’s event which was the 4th in the Galway 5k series.
This course was a little testing as with a hill to start and a hill at approx. 4km, and with weather conditions poor it was a test but none the less as we've seen in the past few weeks this didn't deter the crowds!!

The turnout was great tonight with 574 participants taking part and once again Galway City Harriers were well represented in the top 10 with 7 out of the 10 top spots (with 8 in the top 11)!!!

In the Men’s race Owen Byrne (GCH) is back on form and came home first in 16:25, followed in second place by Conor Dolan (GCH) in 16:52 and third by Mayo’s Timmie Glavey in 17:02.

Well done to all our GCH athletes, as mentioned we had 8 in the top 11 including Billy King in 4th in 17:12, John Cronin in 6th in 17:33, Jerome Debize in 7th in 17:34, Martin Hegarty in 9th in 17:56, Regina Casey in 10th in 18:00 and Chris McGrath in 11th in 18:05!! Massive achievement for the club.

The Women’s Race saw Regina Casey once again take the title in 18:00 (we can’t wait for next week as every week her time s coming down, Sub 18, we’ll keep our fingers crossed), with Jane Ann Healy (Athenry AC) in second in 18:11, another improvement for Jane Ann this week well done, followed by Collette Touhy (Mayo AC) in third in 18:52

And congrats to all who took part from GCH and our neighbouring clubs, keep up the good work!!!

A massive congrats and thank you to all at Claregalway for such a well organised event, even in the rain!!
