October Round up of Results

Gary Thornton took the mens title in 25:01 while Alvy Carragher of GCH took the top women’s result in 31:09. Grainne Ni Uallachain (GCH) in her build up to DCM came second in 31:25 while the ever smiling Emer O’Leary was 3rd having just come back from injury in 32:09.

Some great preformances of the day included Cait Brett who had a great run and new PB and took the 4th ladies spot in 35:54 not to mention Emer Whyte who came home in a sprint finish against Cormac O’Connor in 36:35 and bagged herself a prize for first female home for NUIG!

Connemara 10k

The same day the beautiful Connemara 10k took place with Richard Farnan (GCH) coming home first in 35:33 and Damien Ridge (GCH) was second in 37:50
Our favourite Veteran Martin McEvily was 5th in 40:31.
A great show of faces from GCH at the event this year. May it continue to grow from success to success.

Breaffy 10k

A clear winner was GCH’s Matt Bidwell who also broke Roger Barrett’s record in his first run over the Breaffy loop course, coming home in a fast 31:59 and a shiny new PB!! Well done Matt!!
Norah Newcombe-Pieterse (Ballina AC) was also the clear winner of the women’s race in 36:42 and 5th place overall

Martin Egan (Beagh) 10KM

A strong wind and rain prevailed on Sunday 19th October , but the inclement conditions did not stop 65 hardy runners turning out for the Martin Egan Memorial 10KM in Beagh/Shanaglish, just south of Gort.

The race was won by the Gerry Ryan (Craughwell AC) in a fantastic time of 33:20. Conor Dolan (GCH) was second in 34:14 while Colm Turner (Limerick AC) was third in 34:42.
Gerry Carty of GCH had a great run and was 5th in 35:41.

The women's race was won by Sinead Brody (GCH) in 41:04, Anne Murray from SGAC was second in 44:20 and Lisa McTigue was third in 45:49.
