Meet and Train

Galway Meet and Train was set up by Edel Murphy in 1992 and this year we hope to organise a celebration for the 21st year of its existance. Although we haven't been actively promoting it as a training ground for the Mini marathon over the past few years, there is still a group of runners who meet regularly in Renmore on Monday and Thursday nights throughout the year.We need to get the word out there that we plan this event and will try through the media to make contact with anyone who ran with us over the years. The plan is at the early stages but we hope to have a fun run /walk of about 2 miles followed by a reunion night. We will donate any money raised to the Galway Hospice. Watch out for further updates over the next few weeks.

hi ,i have recently moved to galway ,i have started running and do 3 or 4 runs a week-the longest been about 10km..I would like to run with others but the senior training seems a bit extreme(for me who has never ran before really-im still shocked at myself when i do ten kms).Your group sounds perfect -would it be possible for me to join you.

Orla,of course you're more than welcome to come up some Mon or Thurs night to the car park at Renmore Church. We do about 6 miles on those nights so come up and see if it suits you!

Hi,
Would it be possible to join your meet and train group? I recently completed a 5k and really want to join a running group to motivate me. When and what time do you meet each week?
Thanks,
Patricia

Hello, I've recently moved to Ireland and am currently based in Galway. I have done running in the past (I'm quite slow - 9/10 min miler!) but am a bit rusty. Would I be too slow for your group? Are you still taking on new people? Tracey

Anyone is welcome to join us but you'd need to be able to run 5-6 miles comfortably. We meet at Renmore Church on Mondays and Thursdays at 6.30pm. Come along and we can point you in the right direction!
