The Kearney’s Cycles Streets of Galway Organizing Committee wants to thank you all those people who volunteered their time to ensure that this year’s race was a great success. We estimate that up to 200 people helped us on August 9 and August 10 including 80 people who volunteered as race marshalls, over 40 people who helped to distribute at the 5K mark and at the finish, and 30 people who helped us to distribute the race packs in a timely and efficient manner.

In addition scores of people helped us with setting up the start and finish areas and with the clean up afterwards. And last but certainly not least was the catering crew who spent Saturday afternoon preparing food and then poured thousands of cups of tea and coffee for the runners after the race.

We know that organizing such a large race on busy city streets can only happen if enough people volunteer to help us and we are extremely grateful to all the marshalls and volunteers who ensured that the 2013 race was one of the best yet.

Many of you have already given us valuable feedback which will help us prepare for the 2014 race. If you have any ideas or suggestions for how things could be improved we’d love to hear from you! Please send your thoughts to SOG email

Yours in running

Gerry Carty
Race Director
