There were some great performances from our Juvenile athletes at the County Indoor Championships at the weekend in Athlone.  It was great to see so many new members participating for their very first time and we hope it was an enjoyable experience for them.

With over 700 athletes competing from all over Galway this event  has  growing significantly over the last number of years .  Some of the stand out performances from GCH were Emma Moore in the U14 800m running a superb time of 2.25 , she also went on to win the 60m and the hurdles.  Ava McKeon was also a triple gold medal winner taking the County title in the U13 Girls 60m , 600m and hurdles.  Seren O’Toole stormed home in a quick time of 27.2 in the U16/17 200m and also took the hurdles title and claimed silver in the Long Jump.  Rita Lahoe  won the Senior  Womens 60m title and Darren Costello took the Senior 60m Mens  title both juvenile athletes moving up to take part in the Senior competitions.  Aaron Brennan was impressive in the U16/17 800m race taking gold and Eimear Rowe won the U15 800m convincingly.  Eoghan Jennings was dominant in the U16/17 boys Shot Putt taking the Gold medal.

In the afternoon the U10-U12s took to the Track in great numbers.  Juno Hayes won her very first county title in the U10 60m showing great focus and maturity for her age.  Shane Meagher in his first race for the Club took an early lead in the U11 boys 600m and held off any challenges to take Gold in a very fast time of 1.54.

The results in the attachment below contain full details of all our medal winners as well as times /heights and distances for the events on the day.  If there are events missing results should follow later in the week.

Congrats to all our athletes who participated on the day many of whom achieved season and personal bests on the day.

Finally thank you to all the parents who volunteered to help out with the stewarding on the day. This event could not take place without a huge effort many volunteers.
