Race 4 Galway 5km Series. The fourth race in the series took place this week in Athenry and had close to 700 finishers. First GCH male to finish was Sean Hanley while Regina Casey was first GCH female finisher.
National Track and Field League. Galway City Harriers Men’s team competed with distinction in the opening round of the National Track and Field League held on Sunday last May 19th in Templemore, Tipperary. The GCH Men’s team placed second overall behind Kildare County in their Premier League section with great performances all round. The Galway County Ladies Team, which included a number of our own GCH athletes, also impressed in the Premier Division with a top placing.
Connacht Schools Track and Field Juvenile Championships. The Connacht Schools Track and Field Juvenile Championships was held Thursday last in Athlone IT. There were some excellent performances by Galway athletes with many qualifying for the All Ireland School Championships to be held on June 1st in Tullamore. Mayfly10km. The Mayfly 10k took place over a testing course in Oughterard on Sunday last. Well done to all our GCH participants. First GCH male to finish was Martin Kearney (38.16) while first GCH lady to finish was Lornie O’ Dwyer.
Selections. Congrats and best of luck to Laura Nally (400m) and John Moroney (5000m) who are among the athletes selected for the upcoming Universities Celtic International Match on Saturday in Antrim Forum.
