Galway 5k Series. The final leg of the 5k series, hosted by GCH was held in Clarinbridge yesterday evening in damp conditions. Big thank you to all our volunteers/marshalls/caterers and thank you to the photographer and red tag timing over the series. Thank you to the GCH Director on the night and to the overall 5k Committee and directors and all the clubs involved in the series, Thank you to Patricia Monaghan for the lovely cakes and buns. Well done to all of the GCH athletes who competed in the overall series. Results of all six 5k series races on:

Irish Schools Track and Field Juvenile Championships. Well done to all our GCH Juvenile athletes who represented their respective schools on Saturday last in Tullamore. Among those on the podium were Robert McDonnell, Calum Healy, Daragh Jennings, Aoibhe Deeley and Mathieu Madden. Pop over to our Juvenile section for a great detailed report by Ger.

Galway Senior, Masters and Junior Track and Field Championships. Day two of The Galway Senior, Masters and Junior Track and Field Championships was held last Thursday May 30th with another full programme of events. GCH were well represented in many events. Well done to all our competitors and to our County Champions: 

200m Lydia Doyle (Jun),Jack Dempsey (Sen), Majella Loftus (m35), Jim Phelan (m35). 800m: Joanna Healy (Jun), Maebh Brannigan (Sen), Keith Fallon (Sen).

3000m: Regina Casey (Sen), Grainne Ni Uallachain (m35), Barbara Bergin (m50)

5000m: David Carter (Sen), Martin Kearney (m50).

Discus: Michael Breathnach (Sen), Brendan Staunton (m35), Richard O’Hanlon (m50)

Tribal Games Castlegar. The annual Tribal Games track and field event hosted by Castlegar AC was held Saturday, 1st June last on a pristine grass track in Merlin Woods Park, Doughiska. A great selection of events during the afternoon for many children/juveniles/parents while the evening’s events included a range of exciting races and throw events for adults. On the track, Jack Dempsey of GCH won the Men’s 100m with Joanna Healy winning the women’s sprint race. Regina Casey gave an impressive display of front running in winning the Ladies Mile in 5.24, while Kathryn Casserly was equally impressive in winning the Ladies Legend mile.

Day 2 of the Castlegar AC Tribal Games took place on Sunday at a windy Galway Racecourse with a children’s mile fun run and a 5k adult race over two laps of the racecourse. First GCH athlete to finish was Barry Murphy in 16.42, while Sinead Foran of GCH was first overall lady home in 19.22.

Thursday 6th June Day 3 Galway Adult T&F. Dangan. Hammer at 6.15pm. Track races from 7pm. Including  County 10000m, open mile and sprint races.

Saturday 8th June Connacht Day 1 Juvenile Track and Field Championships. U9 to U11 pairs competitions, & U12 and U 13 individual events. Dangan. (closed)

Saturday 15th June Connacht Day 2 T&F Championships. U14-U19, SENIOR & MASTER Sligo IT. (Sen/master - closing date Saturday 8th June)

Saturday 8th June Annual Portumna Forest 10k, Half Marathon, Full Marathon, 50k and 100k series of races. 7 am. Races will be held in Portumna Forest Park.

Sunday 9th June Clifden Lifeboat 10k
