Day 1 Galway Senior, Masters and Junior Track and Field Championships. Well done to all our GCH athletes who competed on Thursday last, May 23rd on what was a top-class night of athletics in Dangan. Congrats to Robert McDonnell of Galway City Harriers who clocked a European Youth Olympics qualifying time in the 400m in perfect conditions in Dangan. Robert’s time of 48.80 beat the 48.95 standard needed and also claimed the Junior men’s title. The GCH County champions included Junior Champions Lydia Doyle, Eimear Rowe, Richard Kamson, Robert McDonnell and Gary Martin. County Senior Champions included Robert Meagher, David Carter and Michael Breathnach while our County Master Champions included Majella Loftus, Sinead Foran, Majella Ni Chriochain, Brendan Staunton and Michael O’Sullivan. Irish Universities match. Congrats to Laura Nally (2nd over 400m) and John Moroney (4th over 5000m) who competed on the Irish Universities team at the Celtic International versus Scottish Universities on Saturday last in Antrim.

National Relay Programme/IFAM Relays. Congrats to Cillin Greene – part of the winning Irish 4x100m u23 Relay team that competed at the Inaugural IFAM Relays meet in Oordegem, Belgium last weekend. Well done to also to the GCH athletes who competed in the pre programme track events in Belgium.

The 2019 Galway 5km Series. The fifth leg was held in Tuam on Tuesday night just passed over a new course with over 630 finishers. First GCH male finisher was John Morrissey while first GCH lady home was Regina Casey. GCH will host the final leg on Tuesday 4th June in Kilcornan, Clarinbridge.

Thursday 30th May. Day 2 Galway Senior/Junior/Master T&F. Dangan, 7pm.

Saturday June 1st: All Ireland Schools Track and Field Juvenile Championships takes place in Tullamore. Best of luck to all GCH athletes who will be representing their schools.

Tuesday June 4th. Final leg of the 2019 Galway 5k Series. Clarinbridge.

Thursday June 6th. Day 3 Galway Senior/Junior/Master T&F . Dangan 7pm.(10,000m plus two sprint events)

Tribal Games Castlegar. The annual Tribal Games track and field event hosted by Castlegar AC will take place this weekend over two days  as follows:

Saturday, 1st June from 3pm sees a series of events being held at the Grass track in Merlin Woods Park, Doughiska.

Kids Events include children’s sprints and distance races, Shot, Javelin, and Long Jump, for U8s to U16 age groups

Adult events are as follows – on the track; 100m, 400m, graded mile races for all abilities (run/walk a mile) and elite Senior and Masters miles, Steeplechase, while in the field programme, there will be a Shot putt, Long jump, and Weight for distance throw. An all-in entry Fee of Euro 10 for Saturday covers all events, all ages, with cash prizes in the adult races

Sunday June 2nd  sees the action shift to Galway Racecourse where a 5k will take place at 3 pm along with a Kids Mile race
