Inspiring performances at the National Indoor Relay Championships

National Relay Championships

It’s hard to beat the buzz of the National Relay Championships and this weekend in Athlone was no exception.  With just six lanes indoors,  making the final is a significant achievement.  All our athletes performed above and beyond expectations and the club is hugely proud of everyone who lined out on the day. The Club is very grateful to the subs who travelled up and supported their team mates.

Our athletes  took home a national title and two silvers on the day.

Gold  U18 Girls  -  Chloe Casey, Seren O’Toole, Emma Jane Moran , Eimear Rowe and Jennifer Hughes.

Silver - U17 Boys  – Neil Breathnach , Conor Hoade, Andrew Sheehy, Shaun Gilligan, Robert Urquhart and Conor Trehy.

Silver - U19 Girls -  Chloe Casey, Rachel Hughes, Miriam Greene and Seren O’Toole


4th – U16 Girls Ava McKeon, Roisin Dalton, Nicole Quirke , Leana Nic Dhonncha, Eve Ayo and Ashling Healy.

4th U18 Boys  - Robert McDonnell, Richard Kamsen, Andrew Sheehy and Shaun Gilligan

5th U15 Girls  - Rachel Fahy, Anna Lee, Ava McKeon , Leana Nic Dhonncha and Ava Crowe

6th U17 Girls -  Roisin Dalton, Nicole Quirke, Emma Jane Moran and Eimear Rowe

U14 Boys – Renato Brule, Evan Moran, Ronan Duggan & Richard McGrath

U13 Boys - Ronan Duggan, Fionn Dahler, Richard McGrath, Conor Faherty and Ben Moran

U12 Girls – Juno Hayes, Elisa JaimeStapleton, Eva Boo and Jessica Kay


A big thank you to Ken Walsh for the many hours spent co-ordinating the relay teams and to all the clubs coaches for helping to prepare the teams so well.

Individual events

Conor Hoade won a bronze medal in the U16 Boys long jump with a great jump of 5.77m in the fifth round.

Eoin Jennings finished 6th in the U18 Boys Shot Putt with a throw of 11.67m

Aoife Waldron jumped 4.37m in the U16 Girls long jump to take 15th place
