GCH Bursary/Athlete Support Fund

GCH Bursary/Athlete Support Fund is now open for applications.  Forms are attached and should be completed returned to bursary@galwaycityharriers.com by 10th March. 

Bursary payments will be dependent upon club funds being available and will be awarded at the discretion of the Galway City Harriers bursary committee and/or management committee .  The committee retain the right to withhold payment if the conditions below are not satisfied.

Applicant must be a paid up member of Galway City Harriers.



Two categories are available

GCH Under 23 Athlete Development

This bursary is open to athletes who have been a National champion at senior or age group level in the past 12 months . Athletes that are not national champions but have recorded outstanding times or distances   will also be considered and may apply.
Applicants must be Aged 18-23 at date of application.

Bursary fund of €1500 with up to three slots available.

GCH Athlete Bursary

This bursary is intended to provide a level of support to competitive national and international level GCH athletes.  The bursary is open to athletes who meet two or more of the following criteria:

  • Have been an individual National medallist or finalist at senior or age group level in the past 12 months  .
  • Athletes that have recorded outstanding times or distances  in their event.
  • Athletes that intend to compete for GCH in a recognised EA/IAAF international level event

Applicants must be Aged 18 and over at date of application

Bursary fund of €500 available

Return forms to Galway City Harriers c/o bursary@galwaycityharriers.com by 10th March.

Decision regarding granting of bursaries will be made by Committee by the following weekend.

The remainder of this year’s Bursary Fund has already been allocated to support the development of GCH athletes (including the upcoming Running Endurance Camp in Portugal for 16-18 juveniles age group and support of individual senior international athlete)
