Connaught Senior League Cross Country News
Sligo and Longford were the venues for the first two races in the Connaught Senior League Cross Country, held over the past two weekends. First race up was Sligo, where the GCH men endured eight laps of an up and down one thousand metre course. The team certainly got off to a great start in the League with Eanna Folan and James Frizzell filling first and third places, while running strongly in behind were Michael Kerrin, Niall Murphy and Neil Keane. The Womens 4k race was won by Adrianna Melia of Longford AC. GCH athlete Aoife King finished a credible second in the Junior women's 4k.
The second race took place on Sunday last at Moyne Community School, Longford. In the Women's 4k , over two and a half laps, Kathryn Casserly ran a superb race to take second place. In the men's race over a testing 8k course, Michael Kerrin finished best of the GCH men in sixth place. Niall Murphy and Neil Keane again ran good solid races, and there was return to action for Brian Bruton and Michael O'Sullivan. The final race in the League takes place on Saturday 18th November in St. Bridgets GAA, Kiltoom, Co. Roscommon. Anyone who wishes to run , contact the Secretary asap.
