Connacht X Country Championships ( Uneven Ages)

The Connacht Cross Country  (Uneven ages) took place at Moyne Community School in Longford yesterday in bright sunny conditions.  Well done to all the GCH athletes who travelled many kilometres to participate.

The day kicked off with the U11 Girls who competed over a 1,500m distance.  First home for the U11 team was Jessica Kay in 40th place and she was quickly followed by Caitlin Podmore in 41st , Jane Fahy 51st and Jodie Quirke in 57th position.  In the U11 Boys race Shane Meagher ran a fine race to finish 17th, Richard McGrath 20th and Ronan Duggan finished  in 52nd position.

Next up were the U13 girls who raced over a distance of 2,500m.  Isabella Burke ran a magnificent race to take the Gold medal adding to her county title from a couple of weeks ago.  Aoibhe Joyce was next home in an excellent 6th place, Ava McKeon finished  8th, Leana McDonagh 9th,  Rachel Fahy 16th, Clodagh Quirke 30th and Avril O’Toole 37th. The girls were top scorers in the field and won the Connacht Title.  Sean Duggan ran an excellent race to finish 14th in the Boys U13 race and was a member of the Galway team which took the County prize

Eimear Rowe had another fine run this week finishing 6th in the U15 Girls race.
