Athletes excel at the Connacht Schools

The Connacht Schools took place in Athlone on Thursday last .  There were some excellent performances by our athletes with several qualifying for the All Ireland School Championships to be held on June 1st in Tullamore.


Robert McDonnell, Emma Moore and Aibidh Ni Mhaille all won Double Gold in their respective events.  Robert won the Senior Boys 200m and 400m,  Emma won the 300m & 800m at Intermediate level with Ailbhe winning both the Discus and Shot Putt at Intermediate level.

At Minor level Mathieu Madden won the high jump and was 2nd in the 100m.  Evan Moran won the 75m Hurdles, and Rachel Fahy won the 200m.  Chloe Hallinan took 2nd in the 75m hurdles and Senan McDonnell was 2nd in the 1500m.


At Junior level there were wins for Ava McKeon in the 75m hurdles and Calum Healy in the 80m hurdles. William McDonnell won the 1500m and Daragh Jennings won the Discus as well as finishing 2nd in the 800m.  Aoife Waldron won the triple Jump and was 3rd in the long jump. Nicole Quirke was 2nd in the 100m and Oisin Keane 2nd in the Javelin.

At Intermediate level Aoibhe Deeley won the 80m hurdles and Conor Hoade the 100m hurdles.  Barry Murphy won the 1500m and Conor Trehy won the triple jump.  Eimear Rowe took silver in both 200m & 300m.

At Senior level Jack Maher won the 1500m and Aaron Brennan was 2nd in the same race. Richard Kamsen won the triple jump. Seren O’Toole  finished 2nd in the 200m and 3rd in the 100m.  Aoife Sheehy took silver in the 400m hurdles.
