So said a curious byelaw of Galway Corporation in 1518, when they ordered that none of the town's inhabitants should admit any McWilliams, O'Flahertys, Kellys, Burkes or their like into their houses. The West Gate of the town apparently had the inscription "From the ferocious O'Flaherties Good Lord deliver us."

Well, times have changed, and on August 8th 2009, Galway City Harriers are hoping that plenty of ferocious natives are part of the action around the Streets of Galway. Strutting and Swaggereing are optional!

Streets of Galway 2008 - Phew!

The Streets of Galway is over for another year. Congratulations to Josphat Boit, Clonliffe Harriers, who won the men's event and Rosemary Ryan, Bilboa AC, winning the women's even for a fourth time.

We're delighted to have hosted again a race that so many people enjoy and thank us for. Certainly a big attraction of the race is the warm, welcoming atmosphere created by our participants.

With the event behind us and only some final work on results and administration to sort out it's a good time to acknowledge the efforts of so many.
