Congratulations to everyone who took part in the Headford 8K on Saturday 30th June
In the Men’s Senior Race Andrew Annett was first home in 25:58, John Byrne of Mayo AC was 2nd in 26:08 and Julio Cesar came third in 26:41.
In the Women’s Race Sarah Syron came first in 31:12, congrats to Regina Casey of GCH who came in second in 31:20 and Jane Ann Healy of Athenry who was third in 31:25.
Congrats also to Gerry Carty of GCH who came first in the O40 category in 28:27

In the Mens 400m there was a clean sweep for the Galway City Harriers with Rony Kelly winning Gold in 52.09, in 2nd Conor O'Rourke won Silver in 54.15 and in 3rd winning Bronze was Ronan Coyle 54.82
In the Womens Senior 400m Rachel Finnegan of Craughwell AC took Gold in 1:07.07 while Niamh Hennelly Galway City Harriers came away with a Silver medal for 2nd place in 1:09.37

Congratulations to Regina Casey of GCH who won this year’s Galway Simon Women’s 10K Mini Marathon on Sunday 23rd June.
It was a wet and windy day in Salthill on Sunday but that didn't deter 789 women (and men) braving the elements in aid of Galway Simon.
The 1st lady home was our own Regina Casey who is having a tremendous year so far in a time of 40:29. Second home was Alvy Carragher in 41:25 and in third place was Theresa Doherty in 41:32.

We are thinking of changing the name of the race next year to the Annual Annaghdown Summer Soaking!
The day started off warm and dry, as it had been for much of the week. Yes, the rains were promised, but it seemed to be holding off, until about 5pm. Then, as in 5 of the previous years, down it came.
The 4th Annual Milltown 10k "Run for Ollie" took place on Saturday the 15th June.
550 participants took part in the Milltown race in perfect running conditions.
In the mens race John Mannion from Roscommon took first place in 33:30 just ahead of John Byrne from Mayo AC who came in second place in 33:32 and David Tiernan from Mayo came in 3rd in a time of 36.03.
In the womans race Mary Glesson from Mayo AC retained her title in a great time of 38.09 with Eimear O'Leary from Clarinbridge coming in 2nd and Ann Lennon from Galway in 3rd.
Well done to everyone who took part in the various Races held at the Portuman Forest Marathon on June 15th. 29 completed the 100k, 74 the 50k, 117 the marathon, 113 the half with 67 running the 10k.
A special mention to Gerry Carty who completed the marathon in 3:07 qualifying him for the Boston Marathon next year.
Congrats to Grainne Ni Uallachain who was 2nd home in female Half Marathon race in 1:33:46!
Well done to Martina Possman who completed the 50KM in 5:25:58!

Congrats to Gearoid Hynes (Galway City Harriers) who was first home in the Men’s Half Marathon in a 1:21:36 followed by Philip Nyland (Celbridge AC) in second place in 1:23:51 and third place by Tomasz Kadzielanski in 1:27:20.
Sinead Brody (Galway City Harriers) came first place in the Ladies Half Marathon in 1:30:50, followed in second place by Sinead Foran (Athenry AC) in 1:33:56 and Roisin Farragher in third in 1:37:16.
Congrats to Matthew Bidwell (Galway City Harriers) was placed first in the 5km race 16:13.
Congrats to Peter O’Sullivan (Loughrea AC) who was first home in the Men’s Race in a fantastic time of 15:46 followed by Owen Byrne (Galway City Harriers) with a PB of in 16:06 with Patrick O’Toole (Mayo AC) coming 3rd in 16:45.
Taking first place again in the Ladies Race was Regina Casey of GCH in 18:33, followed in 2nd place by Sinead Foran (Athenry AC) in 19:17 and Ruthann Sheehan in 3rd place in 19:30.
Well done to everyone who took part and a special thanks to Tuam AC for organising the last race of the series.
