Keith FallonA massive congratulations to Keith Fallon who won the U23’s Bonze at last weekend’s National Inter Cross Country 8k in Santry. And was 40th overall in one of the most competitive Cross Country Races we have seen to date. Keith has also been selected for the U23 team to represent Ireland in the European Cross Country Championships in France on December 13th, a massive achievement!!

While we in GCH continue to reflect in the afterglow of celebrating the 30th anniversary of our "Streets of Galway" club-race earlier this year, it's worthwhile mentioning that our running neighbours across the county boundary in south Mayo will be marking an even more noteworthy occasion on Sunday 15th November next when Hollymount celebrates the 50th anniversary of it's annual road-race.

Tom Hunt of Mayo AC has written two lovely pieces chronicling some of the history of this event in terms of past male and female winners as follows:

A massive congrats to almost 20 GCHers that took part in the 36th Dublin City Marathon 2015 held on Monday 26th October. It was not the most ideal of conditions for 26.2 miles but it didn’t make much of a difference to our brilliant GCH athletes with many coming home with PB’s and even some new silver wear for their efforts.

Cross Country season is well under way and a big hitter as always is the Gerry Farnan XC. This year marked the 32nd year of the race which is also the trial race for men and women wishing to represent Ireland in next month’s British & Irish Masters CC International, scheduled for Saturday 14th November in Santry.

Galway City Harriers had 3 great performances from athletes Keith Fallon, Michael O’Conner and Martin McEvily.

Keith came in second in U23’s and 13th overall in 27.01.

Conditions were perfect??? Not a sentence we’ve heard a lot of lately in the West for any sport but once in a while it all comes together and we are blessed with the ideal conditions to run. Saturday was one of those days………….

Three events took place this year……… 10k, Half Marathon and the addition of a Marathon saw approx. 2600 runners invade the prom with their own individual missions….to participate…….finish……PB…….win!!!

[acidfree:11207 title=" " size=750 align=center] Clare River Harriers never fail to put on a great race and 2015 didn’t disappoint with a well organised and exciting race at yesterday evenings Claregalway 10k. Flat for the most of this course this always brings home PB’s and is a target race for most athletes at the end of the Summer racing or for those targeting the Dublin City Marathon. Despite a very wet evening, the race was yet again a great success!!
