News for senior members and athletes
The Galway T&F continues this Thursday July 3rd in Dangan at 8pm. It is open to all GCH members, aged 16 and over. Everyone is welcome, whether trying an event for the first time, aiming for a new PB or just getting some speed work in for the next 10k!
Sprinters, or wannabe sprinters, can try their hand at the 200m. The 1500m or 'metric mile' is for the longer distance fans. Fancy seeing just you might measure up against Derval O'Rourke - then try the hurdles. The Javelin will keep the throwers busy on the infield.
Congratulations to two of GCH's Junior stars who won major titles over the weekend. Eanna O'Cathain won the 35lb Distance event at the Irish Junior Championships held at Tullamore on Sunday with an 8.11m throw. Eanna, who is a strong all-round field event athlete, also claimed bronze in the Shot Putt. Meanwhile at the Tailteann Schools Interprovincial, which was held on Saturday at Santry, Rebecca Nolan won the 300m Hurdles event. Rebecca was representing Calasanctius College Oranmore and won in a fine time of 45.41s with almost a second to spare over her 2nd place rival.
Congratulations to Sean Breathnach who was selected on the European Cup Team for the 21-22nd June.
The Irish men’s team will compete in the 2nd League Group A in Tallin, Estonia, where Sean will compete in the Shot Putt.

[acidfree:901 size=300] GCH track sessions continue tomorrow, Saturday, in Dangan at 11am.
Last Saturday saw the first of three sessions, organised by club chairman Pat O'Dwyer, take place. 2007 National 10k T&F Champion Gary was on hand to lend his track expertise to many new GCH members. The morning was thoroughly enjoyed by all and finished off with a relay team competition. More good fun is promised tomorrow and everyone is welcome.
The Galway Senior Track & Field events will kick off next Thursday 19th June in Dangan. They will follow the very popular format initiated last year and are open to all AAI registered athletes - both seasoned campaigners and those new to T&F. GCH hopes to have a big contingent trying their hand at the various events on offer. Full details are in the attached flyer.
