Attached is the timetable for Day two of the 2016 Galway Track and Field championships being held on Sunday next 15th May , in Dangan, from 10 am. The programme includes events for older ages juveniles, Seniors and Masters ( who compete with Seniors) .
April is a popular marathon month. GCH had participants running in Boston, Rotterdam, Manchester and London.
In Rotterdam Timmy Jones ran 2.50 a massive achievement in his first ever marathon!! While Martin Kearney ran 3.06 on the day.
In London Sarah Collins straight from her win in the County 10 miler, continued her line of PB’s and out did herself once again by running a massive PB coming home in 3.10………..amazing achievement. There is lots more to see from Sarah!!
The Galway 5km Series sponsored by Bradley Renault is nearly upon us and with many GCH members signed up to particiapate it should make for a great start to the running summer.
Like all good things the series doesn't just happen and there are a few things we'd like some help with before the series kicks off.
To help share practical advice on easy-to-prepare and nutritions meals for post-exercise we're holding a recipe competition. Entries are welcome from any GCH member. Winning recipes will receive a voucher from the Gourmet Tart Company.
Meals should be well balanced and contain:
GCH member Sean Breathnach has been a superb throwing athlete for many years. He continues to deliver outstanding throws and was recognised earlier this month by Galway Athletics as Senior Athlete of the Year.
It’s here again, Spring!!! And that means the 5K Series is almost upon us.
Time to see if all those rainy, windy, cold nights and days out on road over the winter were worth it!!

It was a great weekend for Galway, with the Inter County Cross Country Gold Cups coming back to Galway for the first time in 30 years!!! For the first time in 42 years the XC Champs were held in Galway so what better place to collect a win than on home turf!!
GCh were proud to be represented in the Captain Seat for both the Men’s and Women’s Teams, with Gerry Carty heading up the Men’s side and Siobhan Egan heading up the Ladies team.
