We probably deluded ourselves 3 weeks ago in Athenry by claiming that the evening had dried up before the racing commenced, and last week in Craughwell sure weren't we all home and hosed before it really came wet. Tonight was a different bag of cats altogether. It was (very) wet all evening around Galway, what could be described as a soft Irish summer's evening.

Once more into the breach for the Galway 5K race-series, as this spectacular roadshow of racing descended on an overcast and then damp Craughwell last night. Again, much thanks is due to all in Craughwell AC for hosting another great race on the local athletics calendar.
Based on the provisional results-set, times for GCH participants have been extracted to the attached PDF document. Once again, any errors or ommissions can be highlighted to email@example.com and we will address same ASAP.

[acidfree:3752 title=" " size=120 align=right]The AAI Games & Track & Field Relay Championships for 2010 will be held on Sunday, 16th May this year, in Castleisland, Tralee, Co. Kerry. GCH intends to enter a number of teams this year to boost our presence at this level of competition in T&F.

[acidfree:3654 title=" " align=right size=200]There's an interesting side-story to the photograph that accompanies this article from last Sunday's fantastic inaugral 10-mile road-race in Craughwell. The photograph clearly shows GCH stalwart Martin McEvilly crossing the start-line at the very back of the field, not the usual starting position we would expect to see from such a fine runner in any race.
A large number of the club are in action competing and taking part in events this weekend. Nenagh is hosting the National Combined Events and Relays Championships Saturday and Sunday.
Three of GCH's top T&F athletes Sean Breathnach, Eanna O'Cathain and Cliff Jennings are competing. Sean and Eanna are combining for the 2x56lbs and the 2xShot. Cliff is on tomorrow in the 60m, LJ, HJ and Shot.
