Once more into the breach for the Galway 5K race-series, as this spectacular roadshow of racing descended on an overcast and then damp Craughwell last night. Again, much thanks is due to all in Craughwell AC for hosting another great race on the local athletics calendar.

Based on the provisional results-set, times for GCH participants have been extracted to the attached PDF document. Once again, any errors or ommissions can be highlighted to and we will address same ASAP.

Galway 5K race-series action continued in Tuam again last night. The weather gods were back on our side this week, and a fine evening led to some great times on a fast new course. Many thanks to all in Tuam AC for hosting another great evening of road-racing in county Galway.

[acidfree:3795 title=" " rotate=right size=120 align=right]Updated with some final adjustments and additions. Of the 173 GCH athletes registered for the series, 131 ran in Athenry on Tuesday last.

The Galway 5K race-series got off to a flying (if somewhat damp) start for 2010 last night in Newcastle, Athenry.

Athenry AC were once again superb hosts and ensured that the first leg of the series went off in a smooth and relaxed fashion. It's great to see a couple of small improvements (e.g. chip-timing this year) introduced year-on-year. Well done and many thanks to all concerned.

Craughwell 2010 - Better Late Than Never!

[acidfree:3654 title=" " align=right size=200]There's an interesting side-story to the photograph that accompanies this article from last Sunday's fantastic inaugral 10-mile road-race in Craughwell. The photograph clearly shows GCH stalwart Martin McEvilly crossing the start-line at the very back of the field, not the usual starting position we would expect to see from such a fine runner in any race. Indeed, when Martin passed me around half-way, I thought it was less a case of me going particularly well on the day, and probably more a case of Martin racing himself back into form after a recent injury. The truth is more revealing however. From talking to Martin briefly at the finish-area, it seems that he got his race start-time mixed up and arrived very late into Craughwell on the day, so late in fact that the race had gone off without him as he jogged down towards the starting area.

Bus To The Fields!

[acidfree:1634 title=" " align=right size=200]For those of you taking part in this year's Fields of Athenry 10K road-race on St. Stephen's day (26th December), GCH will organise a bus to and from the event if there are sufficient numbers interested.

The provisional plan is that the bus will leave Galway at 9.30am (approximately) from Westside Library and return from Athenry at around 3pm. This will give all participants ample time to warm-up for the race and then just as importantly, time for post-race analysis over a relaxing cup of tea (or perhaps a hot port for the day that's in it!) with fellow runners and club members.
