[acidfree:5521 title=" " rotate=right size=150 align=right]As a new autumn/winter season of Fit4Life, marathon and cross-country running is now upoun us, it is high time that we revived the GCH "running shorts" feature on the club web-site. Given that my own running year is quickly turning out to be an "annus horribilis" (injury-related), I thought I should put my spare non-running time to good effect and contribute my own running shorts to kick off the series this time round.

1. How long (in years!) have you been running regularly?
3 years.

2. Why did you start running?
To lose weight and get fit into the bargain.

3. What inspires you to keep on running?
Because if I stop, I’ll be back to square one and it would be a nightmare starting from scratch all over again!

1. How long (in years!) have you been running regularly?
Nearly a year following a long break. Before that, close to twenty years on and off.

2. Why did you start running?
To keep fit and I love being out in the great outdoors.

3. What inspires you to keep on running?
The fresh air (what's left of it) and to keep away from the dreaded nicotine. Watching athletics/races on TV is a great motivation.

1. How long (in years!) have you been running regularly?
Well, regularly, about 2-3 years. I ran a hell of a lot though when I was a teenager, sometimes hitting 70 miles+/week. As a result of this I spent most of my 20s & 30s recovering!

2. Why did you start running?
Because I couldn’t play soccer (actually I couldn’t run very well either as a kid, which shows how bad I was at soccer). Also, to copy my big brother.

1. How long (in years!) have you been running regularly?
I started in 1995 so almost 15 years, but was inactive and got fat from 2001 until last year.

2. Why did you start running?
I always loved sport when I was younger, unfortunately due to an injury to my arm I was unable to compete at contact sports, so I took up running, anyone who runs for a period of time can’t help but fall in love with the sport.
