GloHealth Combined Events Championships
Round 1 of the penultimate club challenge event was the Inter-County Cross Country in Dundalk IT last weekend. It produced a big move in the women's challenge. Niamh Hennelly has leap-frogged to the top of the leaderboard and it will take some fancy footwork and equally fancy mathematics to dislodge her.
In the men's challenge things were largely unchanged at the very top but Gary Thornton, Keith Fallon, Brian O'Connor and John Cronin made great strides up the leaderboard. But have they left their dash too late?
The second day of the Connacht cross country held in Westport House last Sunday. The venue was superb for a more traditional cross country course with lots of hills and muck. The heavy passing showers made underfoot conditions difficult and several GCH participants fell during the races but everybody finished.
With the results now in, there have been some small but significant changes at the top of the leaderboards in both the men's and women's events.
Day 1 in Bushfield, Loughrea on Sunday 2nd November
Day 2 in Westport House, Westport, Co Mayo on Sunday, 9th November
Race distances for both days
Senior, novice and master women 4K
Senior, novice and master men 8k
Entries for both need to be sent to me before next Thursday October 23rd.
Please indicate whether you are taking part in Senior, Novice or Master.
Races start on both days at 1pm with juvenile races followed immediately by the adults.
