Please Note: There are 2 GAA matches in Pearse Stadium this Sunday 11th February- one at 12pm and one at 2pm, so anyone heading to Clarinbridge to the Cross Country from that direction, please leave Galway City early to get out to Clarinbridge ! Galway Athletics are looking for more marshals / helpers for the Cross Country this Sunday, 11th February in Clarinbridge. Quite a lot of volunteer work has gone in up to this point to ensure the event happens here in Galway and is successful.
Galway City Harriers Junior Men’s Cross Country team competed in Mira in Portugal at the European Clubs Cross Country Championships on Sunday last and the five-man squad did the club and the city proud, with a great ninth place finish in their first outing at European level.
Galway City Harriers women’s and men’s teams competed in two rounds of the Indoor League to make it to the final last weekend. The final was held at the National Indoor Arena, in Abbottstown, Dublin. After a lot of last minute reshuffling due to illness and injury, both teams really stepped up with many of the athletes doubling up in events.
GCH’s Gary Thornton is the 2018 World Marathon Challenge Champion after completing 7 Marathons in 7 Continents in 7 Days.
