All at Galway City Harriers were saddened to hear of the tragic death last weekend of Chris McGrath, a recent member of city club GCH.Chris had competed with the club since juvenile days in the 1990s, and was a very talented and committed athlete who won numerous titles at Juvenile level. In recent years he competed at cross country and road races at regional and National level for GCH and Galway county.

GCH Bursary/Athlete Support Fund is now open for applications. Forms are attached and should be completed returned to email@example.com by 10th March.
Bursary payments will be dependent upon club funds being available and will be awarded at the discretion of the Galway City Harriers bursary committee and/or management committee . The committee retain the right to withhold payment if the conditions below are not satisfied.
Applicant must be a paid up member of Galway City Harriers.

Our Sports Psychology Talk, Performing Under Pressure by Dr Karen Weekes has been scheduled for Monday 13th February at 7.30pm in the Westwood.
Tickets are available on Eventbrite for ten euro.
Members who have paid their 2017 membership can claim their free ticket on Eventbrite.

GCH AGM , Thursday, 9th February 2017
The Galway City Harriers AGM will take place on Thursday, 9th February 2017 in the Elizabeth Suite of the Westwood Hotel, Dangan, from 8pm.
As members, any thoughts/ideas you may have will contribute towards the development of our club. We would greatly appreciate your attendance this year.
GCH hosted a hugely successful Awards Night on Friday 18th November in the Westwood Hotel . The event celebrated the achievements of Club athletes and members in their sporting achievements over the past year, including the recent National marathon win by their Senior Ladies team. The club presented awards across the Club to Senior Members, Juvenile Members and Fit4Life Members as well as to various teams and international stars.
The last two Cross Country events of 2016 are National events.
The National Clubs /Inter County xc takes place on Sunday 27th November at the National Sports Campus, Abbotstown, Dublin. Distances are as follows: Sen.Men 10k, Sen.Women 8K, Junior Men 6k, Junior Women 4k.
Closing date is this Friday 18th November. Anyone interested, please confirm asap.
The date for the National Novice xc is Sunday, 11th December at Dundalk IT. Novice Women 4k, Novice Men 6k. Anyone wishing to compete, please let me know asap.

We will be celebrating the achievements of our Club Members in their sporting achievements and their tireless volunteering.
The Galway Sports Partnership are organising a Sports First Aid Course on Saturday 22nd October in Renmore. All active coaches and leaders with GCH Fit4Life, Senior or Juvenile sections are invited to attend the course to learn or refresh their first aid skills. If you are actively leading or coaching with GCH the club will reimburse your participation fee. Please notify Vincent Jordan (email@example.com) once you’ve registered for the course.
