The Club Away Race was at the Baxter Streets of Casltebar 5k on Saturday 30th May. We had a bus organised from Galway and several members also travelled up under their own steam.

The weather had turned very wet and pretty windy and Aubree was the first to venture out for a warm up. The rest of us took shelter in race HQ at the Tennis Club, postponing the inevitable drenching.

The National 10k in the Phoenix Park on April 11th was the 3rd event in the GCH Club Challenge 2015. It proved to be a high scoring day in the challenge with 9 participants collecting the 30point medal bonus and two collecting the 10k PB bonus.

In both the mens and women's tables three of the top four slots are taken by our masters runners reflecting very strong national performances by this element of our club.

And they're off and running (well, jogging anyway) in the 2015 GCH club challenge.  After one of the most successful GCH cross country seasons in years XC fatigue set in and the opening event of the Club challenge (Inter-club XC) had no GCH competitors.  However, the first bonus event of the challenge did see 2 GCHers travel south for one of the stars in the Irish road racing calendar, Ballycotton 10.

GCH Club Challenge 2014 Results (Event 14 - Round 2)

Here are the standings after the National Novices cross country where our ladies team did the club proud bringing home a national bronze team medal. Not a lot changed at the top of the standings but Alvy Carragher, Barbara Dunne and Helen Corbett showed they would be serious contenders for the Club Challenge title if they put their mind to it. Niamh Hennelly had another great run on the country and looks like she can't be stopped now. Still plenty up for grabs though with the other placings and the age category awards.

GCH Club Challenge 2014 Results (Event 14 - Round 1)

Round 1 of the penultimate club challenge event was the Inter-County Cross Country in Dundalk IT last weekend. It produced a big move in the women's challenge. Niamh Hennelly has leap-frogged to the top of the leaderboard and it will take some fancy footwork and equally fancy mathematics to dislodge her.

In the men's challenge things were largely unchanged at the very top but Gary Thornton, Keith Fallon, Brian O'Connor and John Cronin made great strides up the leaderboard. But have they left their dash too late?
