Connacht Schools X Country Titles for Gary Martyn and Cillian Jordan

GCH athletes had a very successful day  at the Schools Connacht Schools Cross Country in Sligo yesterday. 

In the Senior Boys race, Gary Martyn led the field to win his first Connacht Cross Country title just ahead of  Eanna Folan in 2nd place.  Michael Healy and Ronan Dirrane did well also to finish in 9th and 11th positions.


GCH athletes excel at the South Connacht Schools Cross Country

GCH athletes scooped many of the top places at the South Connacht Schools Cross Country in the Claddagh during the week.  In the Senior Boys race Eanna Folan led the way home and was followed by Joe Tannian in 2nd and Gary Martyn 3rd.  Ronan Dirrane and Michael Healy also put in fine performances finishing  6th and 7th.   In the Senior Girls race, Aoife King showed great confidence and determination to win the girls title and Aoife Sheehy ran a superb race to finish in third place.


Indoor Training for 7 - 11 Year Olds on Friday Nights

Indoor training in the Pavillion at Dangan training grounds re-commences this Friday 13th January 2017 for all registered GCH Juvenile athletes aged 7 - 11 years of age. It's on from 7pm to 8.15pm.
Athletes are brought through correct stretching techniques, correct starting positions for races, relay running, technical athletics drills and lots more in a safe, warm, dry and fun filled atmosphere.



Juvenile Training for 2017 resumes on Sunday 8th January.

Juvenile training resumes after the Xmas break on Sunday 8th January .

The County Indoor Champonships takes place on Sunday 15th January in Athlone IT.  Registration for 2017  must be paid online by 5th January in order to participate.  See Member Notices for link to registration.

There will be no training for Juveniles in Dangan on Sunday 15th January.


GCH athletes battle the Hills of Westport

Our U11 Girls were first off in Westport today on one of the toughest cross country courses in the country.  Mia Craughwell ran a very brave race from the front and held on for a silver medal in a close finish.  Kayla McKeon followed up in 39th place and Clodagh Quirke in 51st.

Next up were the U11 Boys where Richard McGrath and Ronan Duggan ran well finishing 58th and 64th respectively.

The first race will start at 12 noon.
