For all general information relating to juveniles
The County Indoor Championships takes place this weekend ( 11th & 12th Jan) in Athlone IT. U8 – U12 s participate on Saturday and U13 to Senior on Sunday. A Programme of events is posted on our Facebook Page Galway City Harriers Juvenile.
There will be no training for U9 to U12s on Friday night ( 11th ) in the Pavillion. There will be no juvenile training in Dangan on Sunday morning (13th Jan) .
Juvenile training resumes on Friday 4th January at 7pm in Dangan for all juveniles after the Christmas break. Please note all athletes need to have thier 2019 membership renewed before attending any training sessions.
There will be no training on Sunday 13th January due to the County Indoor Championships which are being held in Athlone.
After a number of months analysing Juvenile Indoor results Seamus Lynch has recorded the GCH Juvenile Indoor Best Performances for County, Province and National/International Championships. It has taken many hours delving through the archives to produce such a comprehensive document. The club is very appreciative of the work that has gone into this. We would also like to acknowledge the help received from Iain Shaw with the sourcing of historical records.

U12 – U19 GCH Juvenile Relay Policy
Athlete Step Up’s
As per AAI rules, athlete Step ups (i.e. a child is allowed run up one age) are allowed when putting together GCH relay teams. A maximum of one Step up will be permitted in the U12 and U13 age categories, and a maximum two Step ups will be permitted from U14 and upwards.
Indoor Season – 4 x 200m
The 2018 National Cross Country Championships ( Even Ages) took place at the National Sports Campus in Abbotstown yesterday in cool but sunny conditions. A highly competitive day’s racing saw GCH’s U20 Men’s team take silver medals behind Clonliffe Harriers over the 6,000m course.
The National Cross Country Championships for Senior, Junior and Juvenile even ages takes place this Sunday 25th November, in Abbottstown. First race commencing at 11.30am.
Galway City Harriers will have a number of teams and individuals competing across most of the races. Juvenile teams/individuals qualified from the Connaught Champioships while a number of athletes will also compete on the Galway County Teams.
The Connacht Cross Country Championships (Uneven ages) took place in beautiful Beleek Woods today hosted by Moy Valley AC. GCH were winners in the U15 Girls and U19 Boys team events. Emma Moore was victorious in the U15 Girls race to claim the Connacht title. A number of athletes also claimed medals with the Galway team.
The County Cross Country Championships for Uneven ages took place in Loughrea today in warm and pleasant conditions. GCH juveniles has some great success with two individual wins for Mia Craughwell in the U13 Girls race and Emma Moore in the U15 Girls race. The U15 Boys and U15 Girls both took home the team gold for GCH. Once again thank you to the Organisers and the team of volunteers for this event and to Iain Shaw for the live results.
GCH had four athletes competing at the All Ireland Combined Events for Secondary Schools in AIT at the weekend.
