The following races will take place on Sunday 2nd October at Palace Grounds in Tuam. Please arrive at 12 O'clock to get the athletes race number and to join in the pre race warm up. U10s - 1000m;U12s - 2000m ;U14s - 3000m;U16s - 4000m ;U18s - 4000m (girls) 6,000 (boys) Athletes should bring the following;
Any Seniors/Masters....Novice, Intermediate....who are interested in running the the Galway County x-c and Connaught x-c, contact the club secretary no later than Wednesday 28th (for the County Galway x-c)
Sunday 2nd October: Galway County x-c. Senior/Master/Junior and even age Juveniles, Palace Grounds, Tuam @ 1pm
Sunday 9th October: Juvenile uneven ages. Southpark. @1pm
Saturday 15th October: Coannaught x-c Senior/Masters day 1, Sligo Racecourse.
Upcoming Events for young juveniles
The Galway Cross Country Competitions will take place over the first two Sundays in October and it’s an ideal event for athletes of all abilities. Club members can sign up at Training.
Athletes will need to have a Club Singlet to compete and they can be purchased at the Track for €15.
The Race Distances are as follows for each age group and the Competitions commence at 1PM.
September 10th to the 18th is designated as the European Week of Sport, to encourage people of all ages to become active.
Training for athletes aged 7 to 12 years will recommence on Sunday 18th Sepember at 10.30am. Looking forward to seeing you all back after the Summer holidays.
As our membership numbers are large for this age group Parents of athletes aged 7 to 10years need to remain trackside during the training sessions. If you can help out on Sundays during this session please speak to one of the coaches and you can add your name to the Rota.
The Older Sprint Group will recommence in October. Details to follow.
Our Sunday morning training sessions will soon restart for 7 to 12 year olds.
Cross Country Training will resume on Sunday 4th September in Dangan for athletes who are interested in competing in the upcoming Cross Country races. This training is suitable for athletes born 2005 and older only. This group will also train on Friday nights at 7pm. Details of training for younger groups and the sprint group to follow soon.
The GCH Track Sessions on Tuesday evenings are proving to be very popular with significant numbers attending every week. The Final Term of 2016 has begun and all members are invited to participate.
To take maximum advantage of available daylight sessions will continue with a 6:30pm start time for September.
Important notes: - Meet point for warm-up, drills and the session briefing will be at the Hockey Pitch, not the Athletics track.
