Many thanks to all who made the 2018 Galway Clinic Streets of Galway 8k a huge success. The biggest ever edition of the famous race was held Saturday 11th August last through the city streets and was made possible by GCH, the Streets committee, hundreds of volunteers, the Galway Clinic and our associate sponsors, as well as Galway City Council, the Gardai and all who helped organise what is one of the citys great summer events, where young and old,and fast and steady runners all take part ! Well done to everyone who was there!
All roads lead to Tullamore this weekend for GCH athletes competing in the final events of the Track & Field season. The National Masters Track & Field Championships takes place this Saturday 18th August in Tullamore while Sunday will see the long awaited final of the National Track & Field League team competition, also being held in Tullamore.
The 2018 Galway AAI 5KM Road Race Championships will take place in conjunction with the Caltra and District AC 5KM road race this Friday 17th August 2017 at 7:30pm. Registration in Caltra Community Centre from 6pm. Start is 1km from Centre so arrive in plenty of time. Refreshments in the centre following the race.
It’s going to be another exciting year for the Galway Clinic Streets of Galway 8k! We’ve seen Galway city come alive with festival goers over the past couple of months from artists, musicians to fashionistas, but this Saturday evening the city will be buzzing with eager runners and walkers, as the 33rd race takes over the streets of Galway.

The National Juvenile Track and Field finals reached its grand finale in Tullamore on Sunday last, and featured the final day of U12 to U19 Competition. There were yet again some superb medal winning performances from GCH athletes, with two gold medals via Seren O’Toole and Daragh Jennings .
Daragh Jennings won gold in the U15 Boys Discus throwing a massive 35.99m to claim the National title from Tadgh Connolly of St. Senans. Daragh earned himself an early lead in Round 2 with a throw of 35.80 but went one better in the 5th round with a throw of 35.99m.
Some upcoming dates to note: The National Senior Track & Field Championships take place on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th July in Morton Stadium. The closing date for entry is this Friday, 20th July. Contact club secretary for entry/information asap.
The National Masters Track & Field Championships take place on Saturday 18th August in Tullamore. Closing date for entry is Friday 10th August. Contact club secretary for entry/information.
Day 1 and 2 of the National Juvenile Championships took place over the weekend in Tullamore in relatively damp but humid conditions. Athletes from the Club produced excellent performances which included a national record.
Emma Moore once again showed her class winning the U15 Girls 800m in style seeing of strong challenges from Sarah Hosey and Fiona Dillon. In the process Emma obliterated the current national record of 2.15 by clocking an astonishing 2.11 and led the 2nd and 3rd placed athletes inside the record also.
The very best of luck to all the GCH athletes who will be competing at National level this weekend. This Saturday 30th June will see our athletes compete at the National Junior and u23 Championships in Tullamore, while on Sunday 1st July, our juveniles will be in action at the Juvenile Games (u9-11 plus relays, and u12/13 Field events) , also in Tullamore.

The final race of this year's Galway County Adult Championship will be a mixed distance relay race on grass. (600m, 200m, 800m, 400m). The race will take place this Saturday evening, 30th June in Merlin Woods City Park, Doughiska as part of the Castlegar AC Tribal Games big event.
The relay for women is due to begin at 7pm followed by the mens relay. Registration on the day.
The Tribal Games event itself begins at 5pm with a wide range of events for all ages- from sprints to mile races. Entry to the event is €5 , great family event day in store. Event timetable below.
