Happy New Year

Happy New Year to everyone.

There are a few upcoming events and please note that closing dates for entry to many events is normally ten days beforehand.  You must be a registered club member for 2017. 

We encourage people to register as soon as possible for the 2017 season. This will then enable our membership secretary to register you with the AAI for this season, which will enable you to partake in club training sessions and events.

Hope your training and racing goes well for 2017.

Events to note:

Juvenile Training for 2017 resumes on Sunday 8th January.

Juvenile training resumes after the Xmas break on Sunday 8th January .

The County Indoor Champonships takes place on Sunday 15th January in Athlone IT.  Registration for 2017  must be paid online by 5th January in order to participate.  See Member Notices for link to registration.

There will be no training for Juveniles in Dangan on Sunday 15th January.

GCH AWARDS NIGHT 2016

GCH hosted a hugely successful Awards Night on Friday 18th November in the Westwood Hotel . The event celebrated the achievements of Club athletes and members in their sporting achievements over the past year, including the recent National marathon win by their Senior Ladies team. The club presented awards across the Club to Senior Members, Juvenile Members and Fit4Life Members as well as to various teams and international stars.

Upcoming National Cross Country Events

The last two Cross Country events of 2016 are National events.

The National Clubs /Inter County xc takes place on Sunday 27th November at the National Sports Campus, Abbotstown, Dublin. Distances are as follows: Sen.Men 10k, Sen.Women 8K, Junior Men 6k, Junior Women 4k.

Closing date is this Friday 18th November. Anyone interested, please confirm asap.

The date for the National Novice xc is Sunday, 11th December at Dundalk IT. Novice Women 4k, Novice Men 6k. Anyone wishing to compete, please let me know asap.

GCH athletes battle the Hills of Westport

Our U11 Girls were first off in Westport today on one of the toughest cross country courses in the country.  Mia Craughwell ran a very brave race from the front and held on for a silver medal in a close finish.  Kayla McKeon followed up in 39th place and Clodagh Quirke in 51st.

Next up were the U11 Boys where Richard McGrath and Ronan Duggan ran well finishing 58th and 64th respectively.
