The Connacht Cross Country Championships for Even Ages take place in Calry, Hazelwood, Sligo on Sunday 29th October. Start time is 12 O'Clock. Please see details of the events below. Anyone interested in competing should sign up on the Entry sheets in the Shed before Friday 20th September. This event is open to all club members in the relevant age groups. The Galway Cross Country Championships for uneven ages ( U9 to U19) took place in the beautiful surroundings of Kilcornan Estate yesterday. Conditions were perfect for Cross country running and a lot of preparatory work was undertaken by Brian Bruton and his team on Saturday afternoon. Once again thank you to Iain Shaw and the results team for all their work on the day.
There will be no Juvenile training in Dangan for U8s to U12s on Sunday 8th October due to Day 2 of the County Cross Country Championships which take place at Kilcornan Estate, Clarinbridge at 1 O' Clock. Many of our young athletes from U9 to U19 will be participating and their coaches will be attending the event.
The Older Sprint Group from U13 upwards will train as normal in Dangan.
The 2017 Even Ages Cross Country took place at the Palace Grounds in Tuam yesterday. Well done to Tuam AC for all their work preparing an excellent course and to South Galway AC and Iain Shaw for co-ordinating the entries and results for over 270 athletes.
Day one of the 2017 County Galway Cross country competition were held on Sunday last, in the Palace Grounds in Tuam, on a true cross country course, muddy but fair! Almost 400 athletes competed across the Juvenile Even ages races from U10 through to U18 and the Senior Ladies and Men’s races. Results are attached, with many superb GCH performances throughout, of which more to follow! Congrats at senior level to Kathryn Casserly, first in the Senior ladies section, and to Niall Murphy who took silver in the Men's race with an incredible run!
There were some great performances from GCH athletes in Renmore yesterday at the County Primary Schools Cross Country Finals where over 500 athletes took to the starting line. Athletes needed to qualify for this event from the semi finals last week where over 1,600 children took part. It is heartening to see such large numbers participating in these cross country events. Well done to Brian Bruton and his team for organising this event.

Its Cross Country season again and time to 'dig out' the spikes. There is quite a 'congested' fixture list from this weekend up to December, between cross country events and also some permitted local road races. This weekend will see the Castlegar Open cross country races and the Loughrea AC 10k road race.
The County Cross Country Championships take place in Tuam on Sunday 1st October.
