Galway 5km series

Galway City Harriers host the last race in the 2019 Windsor Motors and HSE sponsored Galway 5km Series  on Tuesday, June 4th at 8.00 pm. In Clarinbridge. The race starts at Kilcornan House in Clarinbridge. The route is exactly the same as last year. Details of the route are available at https://www.5km.ie

Below is the timetable for Day 2 of the Galway Senior, Masters and Junior Track and Field Championships, this evening, Thursday May 30th in Dangan at 7pm. Please arrive in plenty of time to check in and collect numbers. Note that events may very well run ahead of schedule, so ensure you are trackside well in advance of any event and listen out for any announcements/updates.

Day 1 Galway Senior, Masters and Junior Track and Field Championships. Well done to all our GCH athletes who competed on Thursday last, May 23rd on what was a top-class night of athletics in Dangan. Congrats to Robert McDonnell of Galway City Harriers who clocked a European Youth Olympics qualifying time in the 400m in perfect conditions in Dangan. Robert’s time of 48.80 beat the 48.95 standard needed and also claimed the Junior men’s title. The GCH County champions included Junior Champions Lydia Doyle, Eimear Rowe, Richard Kamson, Robert McDonnell and Gary Martin.

The Galway B Championships and Galway Combined Events Championships has been postponed tomorrow (Sunday 26th) due to inability to secure medical cover for the event.There are several events happening in Galway tomorrow . A new date will be announced soon.

7.10pm 100m hurdles (Ladies)
7.15pm 110m hurdles (Men)
7.25pm 100m

8.15pm 1500m

Athletes excel at the Connacht Schools

The Connacht Schools took place in Athlone on Thursday last .  There were some excellent performances by our athletes with several qualifying for the All Ireland School Championships to be held on June 1st in Tullamore.

 

Robert McDonnell, Emma Moore and Aibidh Ni Mhaille all won Double Gold in their respective events.  Robert won the Senior Boys 200m and 400m,  Emma won the 300m & 800m at Intermediate level with Ailbhe winning both the Discus and Shot Putt at Intermediate level.

Galway County Adult Track & Field Championships Details

The Galway Senior, Junior and Masters (o35, o50, o65) Track and Field Championship will be held over three Thursday evenings in Dangan with a 7pm start each evening. There will also be a County Combined Events Championship day.

Events Day 1 Thursday 23rd May: 1500m, 100m, 400m, 100/110 hurdles, Shot, Javelin, Long jump, Walk. Closing date: Wednesday 22nd May at 1pm.

Recent Results.

Race 3 5k Series. Race three took place in Loughrea on Tuesday last. First GCH to finish was Michael Kerrin in sixth place (17.31) while first female GCH finisher and first female overall was Jane Ann Meehan (18.45).

Day 2 Galway County Championships

GCH had over 70 athletes in action on Sunday at the County Championships in Dangan in brilliant sunshine.  Conditions were excellent despite a significant head wind in the home straight.  There  were 8 CPBs achieved by our club athletes,   and five were best ever GCH performances across all championships in that age group.  Many thanks to  Seamus Lynch for the anlaysis and update.
