Bryan Ndego and Cillian Greene medal for Ireland

Two of our GCH athletes represented Ireland at the Celtic Games in Scotland this weekend.

Bryan Ndego had a brilliant performance in the High Jump. His impressive leap of 1.90m was the same height as the eventual Scottish winner Cameron McCorgray but on count back Bryan was awarded Silver.

Cillian Greene was in superb form too claiming bronze in both the 200m and the 4X100m relay.

GCH win 5 National Titles at Relay Champs

[acidfree:11195 size=300 align=centre title='']GCH claimed 5 National Titles at the Relay Championships yesterday, breaking three All-Ireland Records in the process.  First up our U13 Girls, in a time of 52.63 Sinead Duggan, Sarah Agboola, Emma Moore, Eimear Rowe and Chellene Trill set the tone for the day leaving the opposition in their trail.  This same team broke the Irish Indoor Record earlier in the year.  Our boys U19, Eoghan Dobey, Shane Trainor Canavan, Dylan Neary and Cillian Greene stormed home also a record time of 43.88 dominating the race from the start.  The U18 Boys were impr

Cillian Greene wins National U18 200m Title

GCH athletes were in superb form this weekend at Day 2 and 3 of the National Track and Field Championships in Tullamore. 

Cillian Greene bolted from his blocks to set a new National Record in the U18 200m. Taking the lead at the 100m  bend, he powered through the finish line to emerge the clear winner in a time of 21.87  to wild applause from the GCH fans in the stand.  The previous day he claimed 2nd in the 100m.

Bryan Ndegro leaped to 1.96m to take silver in the U17 High Jump on Saturday, where the winner Ryan Carty Walsh set a new national record of 2.08m.

Seren & Emma set new Irish Records

At the National Track & Field  Championships  today in Tullamore, Seren O'Toole set the first of our two National records in the 75m hurdles. The triple connacht title winner stormed passed the race favourite Niamh Foley in the final 5 yards to claim her first national title. Zoe Moore ran impressively too in the same race finishing 4th.  Lydia Doyle was ever so close too in the U16 race finishing 4th By the narrowest of margins. Jonathan McGrath and Did well too to make the final, finishing 6th overall.

Silver for U9 Boys at National Champs

Richard McGrath and Ronan Duggan won Silver Medals yesterday at the National Track & Field team Event in Tullamore. A sensational run by the young pair who finished just two hundreds of a second off the Winners in the 60m. Richard actually recorded the fastest 60m of the day.

 

Rachel Fahy and Aoibhe Joyce competed in the U11 600m recording impressive times of 2.03 and 2.04 over the distance. A great finish to a very successful season for these young athletes in their first ever All Ireland's.

Club Challenge - Event 5 Results

On a balmy Tuesday night in Dangan the first night of the county track and field championships doubled as round 5 of the GCH club challenge. 13 GCH athletes toed the line in the 3000 and 5000m races.  At the end of the night Majella Ní Chríocháin and Martin Kearney maintained their positions at the top of the table albeit with reduced leads.

68 GCHers have now scored in the club challenge.  Next up is the National Half Marathon in Dublin at the beginning of August.
