Congratulations to all our GCH athletes who took part in this year’s Craughwell 10. The sunshine brought over 33 GCHers to the race and not only did we see many podium finishes but lots of PB’s this year too.
Matt Bidwell had a fantastic finish, not only with second place but with a new PB of 52.41. He was well clear of his 54.02 finish last year and all his training is paying off pushing him form 3rd last year. Martin Kearney had a great race also and took 1st place in the M060 in 1.03.47.
St. Patrick’s weekend this year was filled with sunshine and so the runners came out in all their glory......all the training in wind, rain, sleet and snow paid off as some fantastic performances ensued.
In the Abbey 10k, Larry Kelly won the Male O40 in 38.12 and was 5th overall, Danny Carr stormed home as first MO50 and in 6th place in 38.25. Sinead Brody was first lady on the button in 40.00 and 11th overall. A storming performance by all!!

And they're off and running (well, jogging anyway) in the 2015 GCH club challenge. After one of the most successful GCH cross country seasons in years XC fatigue set in and the opening event of the Club challenge (Inter-club XC) had no GCH competitors. However, the first bonus event of the challenge did see 2 GCHers travel south for one of the stars in the Irish road racing calendar, Ballycotton 10.

The 30th Annual Streets of Galway 8k Road Race will take place this year on August 8th.
Celebrating 30 years is a massive achievement for the race and the club and we are delighted that we have come this far. From approx.. 100 racers in its first years to 2700 entrants in 2014 and a record sell out two weeks prior to the closing date for entries.
The tough conditions didn't hold GCH back at the 2015 Kinvara Rock and Road Half Marathon and 10k.
GCH took 2nd and 3rd in the Men's 10k with Matt Bidwell in 33.19 and Owen Byrne in 35.14.
Sean Hanley also had a great run in 6th place in 38.19.
The GCH ladies stole the show however taking all three top spots in the 10k. Helen Corbett stormed home in first place in 39.39, followed by Sinead Brody in 40.37 in second place and Esther O'Flaherty took thrid place in 42.02.
