Good underfoot conditions on a dry, cool day welcomed the athletes. In the women's 5k race, Julia Britton had a great run to finish in third place followed by Olive Gleeson in fourth and with strong runs from Deirdre McCrae and Majella N Chriocháin, the GCH ladies team took the women's team title.

Our Juveniles were in action at Day 2 of the County Cross Country Championships  at Bushfield in Loughrea on Sunday. Conditions were perfect with warm sunshine and little wind making it a really enjoyable day for all our athletes , many of whom were competing for the first time.   Loughrea A.C. provided an excellent course as expected and the event was well organised by Castlegar AC and East Galway AC.

Well done to all our athletes who competed at the recent County Cross Country Championships at the Palace Grounds in Tuam (Oct.6th). Great competition over a tough course with GCH athletes Kathryn Casserly and John Moroney winning their respective races and taking the Senior titles. Kathryn Casserly of GCH powered her way to victory in the combined Women’s 4000m race, running from the front all the way, to take a well-deserved victory. Clubmate Jane Ann Meehan had a great run to claim the second senior women's place.

Day 1 of the County Cross Country Championships took place at Palace Grounds in Tuam in bright sunny conditions on Sunday last.  A big thank you to Castlegar AC for setting up a challenging but enjoyable course and to East Galway for providing the results.

The day got off to a fine start with U9s Hannah Boo finishing impressively in 15th place over the 800m distance, her first ever race for the club.
